Screenwriting is also termed scriptwriting; is the art and craft of writing scripts for feature films, television or video games. Celtx is free media pre-production scriptwriting software designed for creating and organizing media projects like screenplays, films, videos, stage plays etc.
General outline of the workshop:
Day 1 (10H00-16H00)
a) Writing a film script: looking at ideas, starting a treatment, writing a synopsis, formulating a structure, what is the structure, how the structure can be subverted. The Hollywood formula.
b) Writing for a documentary
c) Looking at classic examples of screenplays from modern to postmodernism
d) Writing exercise
Day 2 (10H00-02H00)
A technical session on celtex.
The workshop will be facilitated by Akona Matyila; writer, filmmaker and director.
